Marriage Counselling
Marriages have their ups and downs, problems and difficulties, struggles and obstacles, however, they do not last forever. Marriage is not only about the here and the now, it is a lifelong relationship.
Many a times couples pull the plug too early only to find themselves regret later on in their life. On the other hand, countless couples just let it be and live for years with much suffering thinking that it’ll get better not knowing that ignoring problems does not make it go away or make it any less serious than what it actually is.
Whatever the case maybe, to save the marriage or to rekindle the spark in the relationship seeking the right help and advice is vital. Experience has shown that counselling helps in improving the relationship, as it facilitates a safe space for both spouses to express their concerns, ongoing problems and dilemmas where communication has irretrievably broken down.
So don’t delay, begin your journey of healing today!
Divorce & Separation
Although divorce is despised in Islam and is only used as a last resort, it is nonetheless a PERMISSIBLE concept and should be used when necessary. When the relationship has irretrievably broken down and ALL efforts have been made to resolve the issues but to no avail, both husband and wife should consider divorce. The two extremes should be avoided, where, on the one hand, the individual issues a divorce on the smallest of matters. And on the other hand, an individual is not willing to let go of the marriage despite it being irreparable due to social pressure and stigma.
Nonetheless, when this step is taken, it should be taken with a lot of thought, consideration and according to the guidelines shown to us by Islam.
It is undoubtedly a time where emotions are high and experience has shown that it is not usually dealt with in the best of manners. The rights and responsibilities of each spouse become blurry and the couple react irrationally.
Seeking Islamic guidance and assistance from someone impartial can make this transitional period smooth without causing substantial damage.
Child Custody & Maintenance
One of the first difficult conversations after a divorce and separation is the issue of child custody and maintenance. Islam has placed great emphasis on these rights and has laid down grounding foundations for such provisions. They must be upheld not only for the well-being of the children but also for the success of the Hereafter.
The dynamics of child custody and maintenance can be subtle and requires diligence. Having an impartial mediator can allow things to get sorted amicably and prevent any injustice taking place on one party.
Business Dispute
The purpose of business and trade is to thrive and make living comfortable. However, if this is coming at a cost of mistrust, misconduct and misery then the purpose is defeated.
Sadly, many business partners find themselves in this dilemma and seldom do they get to resolve it easily. Sometimes, one party is in the upper hand due to their position and influence which leaves the other party in despair. While in other occasions, one side decides to just keep quite and brush it under the carpet to maintain relationship. Until, one day it all blows off!
Seeking mediation, especially at an early stage, can save the parties a lot of headache, not to mention, the financial burden.
Inheritance & Islamic Wills
The importance of inheritance laws in Islam cannot be overstated. Allah Ta’ala himself takes the responsibility of explaining the laws of inheritance in detail in the Glorious Qur’an, and does not leave it to human reasoning. Furthermore, He states ”These are the limits of Allah…” (Nisa:14)
As a result, Allah has stipulated specific guidelines of inheritance distribution and allocated fixed shares to be received by each legal heir. This is prescribed with full knowledge and wisdom from Allah Ta’ala, which ensures the wellbeing of each heir. Thus, abiding by it will bring much blessings and protection.
Yet, inheritance is much neglected in our society and it only becomes a concern after many years when the children or the grandchildren start fighting over land and property left by their ancestors causing much unrest within the family unit.
Dealing with inheritance immediately after the demise of a family member can save the family from a lot of trouble in the long run.
More importantly, leaving behind some guidelines to one’s family through an Islamic Will, ensuring that the estate is distributed according to Islamic Law and not the Local law is essential.
Neglecting some of the family members’ rights within one’s life by “distributing” the wealth unfairly or by dictating an un-Islamic form of distribution after one’s death will haunt the person in their grave.
Through a valid Islamic Will, you will be
- fulfilling the Sunnah of Rasulullah SAW
- adhering to the Islamic laws of estate distribution
- protecting the rights of your heirs
- preventing any potential family dispute
